Celebrating Appledore's Shipping Heritage
CASH (Celebrating Appledore's Shipping Heritage) is a new community group hoping to restore the neglected grade 2*listed Richmond Dry Dock completed 1856 by the Yeo family who built ships on Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and sailed them over to Appledore for finishing and sale.
Our 150th celebrations will take place on Saturday 8th July 2006 and we are organising a Parade of Sail up the River Torridge as well as exhibitions of Appledore built/repaired vessels and of links with Prince Edward Island, Canada. A local film producer is interested in making a programme based on the rich maritime history of Appledore, culminating with Richmond Dock 150. We would welcome support, help and advice from any of your society members, and will be happy to provide further information.
