Looking for Daltons in "Ross", Wexford.
From Velma Dalton Boudrea 17/1/2010
Hi, I'm looking for information on Dalton families out of of "Ross" who came to Newfoundland from the mid 1700s to the early 1800's. There is a record of a James Dalton, who appears to be captain of the schooner "Betsey", registered in St. John's in 1806. The reference says he was from "Ross". Also there is Matthew Dalton who was a Bye-Boatkeeper in Conception Bay, Newfoundland in the early 1770s. Both these individuals are believed to be my families forebears. For generations my family has been one of shipbuilders, carpenters and experienced seamen. We have documented connections to the town of Western Bay in Conception Bay, Nl., going back to the late 1700s. My ggggrandfather was Philip Dalton who was born in 1774. Not sure if he was born in Newfoundland or in Ireland. George, James, John, William and Matthew are predominant names.
I would appreciate any related information.
Thanks, Velma
