my great great grandfather was capain of this ship in april 1847 according to the register of births and baptisms of st cuthberts church in edinburgh

Since the original exchanges concerning the Parland we have sadly lost Judith Godfrey. Her research concerning the Hill family was complete, but unpublished; the SWMHS have stated that they will publish, but at present the manuscript is available only at the Plymouth and West Devon Record Office. Judith carried out extensive research concerning both the Hill family and the history of each vessel while in their ownership. I have transcribed the Plymouth register of the Parland.
