SS Commerce Vessel No 68771
From Colin Vosper 17/5/2010
I am trying to trace photographs of the s.s. Commerce operated by the Plymouth, Channel Islands and St. Brieuc Steamship Company based in Plymouth, Sutton Pool until no later than around 1895.
She was built in the yard of Peter Ogier in St.Sampson's, Guernsey and launched on 6th Dec 1873 and engaged in "Coasting trade etc". Can anyone help? vosper99@tesco.net

If it helps you in your investigation the Commerce was never registered at Plymouth nor did the Company ever register any other ship in the Port (before 1916, the point to which I've currently transcribed the registers). Nor was there a schooner called "Spray" registered at Plymouth although there was a ketch. (For useful info see http://www.plymouthmerchantships.info/)
