A model of the Pathfinder, scratch built by my Dad was stolen from the Wirral area in 2001.
Length: 44 inches (1.12metres) Width: 7.5 inches (19cm) Height: 10 inches (25cm)
The model has some distinguishing features: 3 access hatches. 1 below accomodation/bridge 1 below funnel and engine room casing 1 aft, below skylight and rope box 1 crewman walking towards rope box, forward 1 crewman climbing companionway to bridge, portside 1 crewman walking towards companionway down, starboard side 1 crewman leaning on rails, portside aft captain on bridge portside waving right arm open lifeboats are equipped with oars, detachable rudder and tiller on forward bulkhead of working alleyway, port, is a switch to operate navigation lights, mast lights and accommodation lights.
If there is any chance it is out there somewhere, I'd love to be able to buy it back for my Dad.

I have been told that Model
Boat magazine July 2007 featured a well known modeller describing his building of the Pathfinder using the Vic Smeed drawings. The myHobbystore website can supply the magazine and the Vic Smeed plans. The following links take you to the relevant pages of their website:

hi i am just about to scratch build pathfinder 14 and i could use any information anyone would be good enough to send me at the moment my main concern is the hull construction any photos or tips .i would be most grateful for .thank you
hi where can i get the vic smeed plans to build pathfinder ? tony.
I am new to boat building, but have always had the yearn to build one. So I was very pleased to have just been given a set of Vic Smeed Plans (MM393-as typed on the Building Instructions booklet)that also contains photos of the ship underway (distance shot whole ship)and some closeups of life boats. I would appreciate photos etc and of course will return favours. This project looks rather complicated so I may try something smaller to 'cut my teeth on'. I'm particularly concerned about the size of the motor to use (electric). Any help here chaps?
I served on THV Pathfinder as an engineer,
until she was taken out of service.
I understand she went to Greece.
Can supply some photos.
if any body wishes to contact me, i might be able to help with bits of plans and various pictures of the deck structures some in colour some black and white.
This chat may be a bit late but i have just been given an old model of this ship Pathfinder. A lot of bits missing particularly the life boats so would be interested in snippets of any plans if anyone had them. I see in the Model Boat plans there is a set by Vic Smeed #636 I think.
I built a 48th scale radio controlled model of Pathfinder about 5 years ago. I built it from scratch using plans I obtained from Trinity House in London. They also put me in touch with the last master of the ship and he sent me several picture of the vessel. As far as I can remember she was built at Dartmouth, But at the moment I cannot remember the name of the shipyard except that it went out of business about the time I was building the model.
If anyone out there is still interested I still have the model plans although they are a bit tatty and I have quite a few photos of the ship and the model.

My Grandfather was 2nd Mate during the 70's on the Pathfinder.
He started a model many years ago, which I have since done much work to.
If you need photo's/ plans, drop me a line to mikenco (at) hotmail [dot] com.
My Grandfather is currently making from scratch the same model as the one you are trying to find some info on. We too are finding it difficult to locate any pictures or info on this ship. Did you have any luck with this? We do have fragments of the plans. If you are still wanting then reply to this post and we will take it from there.
