List of Steamship Captains
From SW 7/2/2005
I was wondering if anyone knew where
i could obtain a list of the first 5 steamships ever built in the UK ?
And secondly a list of who captained the ships during there serviceable lives. And thirdly what eventually became of these ships? .
Any guidence would be greatly appreciated..

The Great Britain is now residing in Bristol, England...in the dry dock that was built specially for her by Brunnel and is currently being restored...and has been for the last 30 years.

The most famous was the Great Britain, of which you probably know already. Now, was she the first steamer or the first screw driven? I can't remember.
She was located in the Falkland Islands, where she was being used as a coal bunker ship- an undignified fate.
Then she was towed home and I don`t know what became of her.
