New Severn Ferry Service

Severn Link have announced a new 50 minute ferry service between Ilfracombe and Swansea, starting in summer 2010.

Other routes are planned to follow. They will use 40 metre Kvaerner 'FlyingCat' catamarans, capable of running at speeds of up to 34 knots.

The first ferry has already arrived

It is good to see a revival in commercial transport in the estuary , although it will lack the charm of Waverley/Balmoral. It also offers some intriguing possibilities for meetings.
