What was the purpose of this block?
The large tackle block in the accompanying photo is from HMS Nelson (1814).

The brass plaque on it reads "Deck Tackle Block HMVS Nelson".

We have been asked by one of their researchers if we are able to say where on the ship this block would have been used. They have some indication that it may have been part of the steering gear.
They are also asking if HMS Nelson would have had two steering wheels as they have one and have come across another which may have belonged to the same ship.
