An invitation to join is extended to anyone whose interests include the sea, ships and seafaring, in the widest sense and at whatever level. The South West Maritime History Society is an informal friendly group and we look forward to sharing with you a varied programme of meetings, visits and events on a broad Maritime theme at locations throughout the South West.

'South West Soundings' three times a year in either printed or PDF form
The Electronic Newsletter 'South West Echoes'
Our annual 'Maritime South West' publication
Maritime Monographs

We hold a number of meetings each year at different venues throughout the Region, enabling our members and friends to visit many places of maritime interest from
nautical colleges
naval establishments
fishing ports
Talks and seminars cover a wide range of topics, covering the whole maritime spectrum, and members enjoy a regular opportunity to meet and exchange views on their current work and interest with like-minded friends.

When opportunity permits members will get an opportunity to visit and sail on historic vessels.

We publish an informative newsletter, 'South West Soundings', three times a year containing items of interest, book reviews and information on our members, events and activities.
We also publish an annual journal 'Maritime South West', which contains a range of articles of historic and current interest.
These publications are FREE to members.
In addition from time to time we publish Maritime Monographs in the form of books available to members.
Members also receive our electronic newsletter “South West Echoes” containing more immediate information and news of meetings and events.
NOTE: Due to technical problems, the 2019 Journal will now be issued in September, at a meeting in Devenport. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Back issues of Journals and Monographs are also available for purchase at less than half price - a full
list of available publications can be found here.
