An account of the fishing boats from the river Wye to Poole Harbour

NOTE

Not all craft fit into handy classification groups and thus some boats have been omitted. Fishing boats especially, by the very nature of their work, move about the coast whilst others, again by the very nature of their method of working are confined to one specific part of the water in which they work. This can cause confusion!

This is a very brief outline of these craft and is not meant as a concise record of the West Country fishing vessels.  At the end of each account the sources are referenced by the numbers below.
